Peoria traffic collision results in passenger’s death

PHOENIX — A passenger of a car that was involved in a collision in Peoria has died, authorities said.

Abrielle Lopez, from Litchfield Park, died from injuries she sustained during the May 11 crash on Sunday, according to the Peoria Police Department.

Peoria Police along with Peoria Fire-Medical responded to an injury collision at  107th Avenue and Northern Avenue at approximately 8:46 p.m.

The collision involved two vehicles, a silver 2012 Chevrolet Silverado and a red 2018 Honda Civic.

The preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the Silverado was traveling westbound on Northern Avenue and was allegedly attempting to make a left turn on 107th Avenue when it collided in the middle of the intersection with the Civic, which was traveling eastbound on Northern Avenue.

The driver of the Silverado was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Civic was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

They have both since been discharged from the hospital.

Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit is investigation the incident. Impairment and speed are being looked into as factors of the crash.
