Ballet Arizona returns to Desert Botanical Garden with ‘Eroica’ performances

PHOENIX — Ballet Arizona is bringing back “An Evening at Desert Botanical Garden” for two weeks starting Wednesday night.

The troupe will put on 14 outdoor performances of “Eroica,” choreographed by Ib Andersen and set to Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, through May 31.

The shows, which are scheduled for Tuesday-Saturday nights, begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets, which start at $60 or $70, depending on the night, can be purchased online.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to allow themselves enough time to walk through the garden, watch dancers warm up and purchase food and drink to enjoy during the show.

The dress code is casual, and breathable layers are recommended.

On-site parking is free. The Desert Botanical Garden is located in Phoenix at 1201 N. Galvin Parkway, near the Phoenix Zoo in Papago Park.

Is this the first outdoor performance for Ballet Arizona?

Outdoor performances aren’t uncommon for Ballet Arizona. In fact, it has been putting on Ballet Under the Stars performances since 1997.

This is the third show that Andersen has choreographed for the Desert Botanical Garden. He also debuted his shows “Topia” in 2012 and “Round” in 2016.
