Bridge Improv Theater celebrating move into new Mesa venue

PHOENIX — The Bridge Improv Theater, which recently rang in five years in the Valley, relocated its showtime fun to Mesa and will be celebrating its move on May 23-24.

Its new home is at Dobson Road and the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway, according to a press release.

On back-to-back nights from 7-8:30 p.m., the improv group will perform in the 110-seat main theater. Then, a block party featuring other improv teams from across the Valley will run from 8:30 to 10 p.m. to conclude the event’s festivities.

There will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a drawing booth, mural painting, a community swap meet and a fortune teller.

In addition to the main theater, the new Mesa facility also features a “back theater” that seats 30-40 people.

The Bridge Improv Theater, which advertises “clean and clever” comedy bits, will host its Mainstage Improv Show every following Friday and Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. Block parties, which feature 2-3 local improv outfits, will also be held every Friday and Saturday from 8:30 to9:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online for $16.95 after fees. Guests attending the shows are asked to bring a copy of their email confirmation to verify ticket purchases at the door.

Improv novices or those looking to practice the craft can sign up for free jam sessions held every Saturday from 10 to 11 p.m. following the block parties. After block parties end, guests just need to put their name in a bucket prior to 10 p.m. to be entered. They will have the chance to star in multiple scenes, if desired.

The theater also offers adult and youth improv classes.
