ASU will hold over 30 graduation celebrations starting this weekend for its largest class ever.

PHOENIX — Arizona State University will hold over 30 graduation celebrations starting this weekend for its largest class ever.
More than 21,000 Sun Devils will earn degrees when the nation’s largest public university concludes its spring semester this week.
The main ASU commencements are set for Monday morning and night at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe. The ceremony for graduate students starts at 9 a.m., and the undergraduates get their turn at 7:30 p.m.
In addition, 22 college-specific convocations, six special-interest celebrations and five military ceremonies are scheduled between Saturday and May 17.
Most of the events will be held at venues on the Tempe campus, but a few are in downtown Phoenix. (Find the full schedule here.)
Anybody attending a graduation event at Mountain America Stadium or Desert Financial Arena in Tempe is subject to a security screening and must comply with the school’s clear-bag policy.
Closer look at ASU’s class of 2025
The class of 2025 includes 14-year-old Abigail Zagala, who is planning to attend law school, and 77-year-old Wayne Johnson, a Vietnam veteran who returned to school to get a master’s degree in international affairs and leadership.
Here’s a by-the-numbers look at the makeup of ASU’s record graduating class, based on estimates provided by the university:
- Over 14,000 students receiving degrees are undergraduates, up 6% from last spring.
- The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is the college with the most graduates (4,700). The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is next (about 4,100), followed by the W. P. Carey School of Business (nearly 4,000).
- Over 3,000 graduates are international students.
- Nearly 7,400 students earned their degrees online.
ASU’s 2025 class isn’t the state’s largest. More than 31,000 Grand Canyon University students completed their degrees in the last year. Over 25,000 of GCU’s graduates took classes online.

Excellent news.
I hope many of these graduates are STEM degrees.

Over 3,000 graduates are international students.
We know that's not true unless you think the Fulton Schools of Engineer or the W.P. Carey School of Business are teaching "fluff" subjects, since they comprise well over half the undergraduate degrees, and it's unlikely that most of the graduate level degrees are "fluff".
Social sciences are critically important, by the way, even if they don't pay well, and not all students have loans.
Sloppy reporting. ASU's 2024-25 class is bigger than GCU's because the 21,000 graduates is from the Spring (they didn't add Fall and Summer like GCU did). It doesn't actually matter, but don't put in false claims (or at least admit that you don't know if you are comparing things and don't have all the data).
