Chris Farley as Shrek? Leaked dialogue shows what could have been

Prior to his untimely death in 1997 due to drug overdose, actor Chris Farley was arguably the face of mainstream comedy in the U.S.  On the surface, Farley was a fun-loving, stammering, excitable mess with a big heart, making him a magnet for attention virtually wherever he went.

It also made him perhaps the perfect person to voice the role of Shrek, who was eventually voiced by comedian and Farley’s fellow Saturday Night Live alum, Mike Myers.

The video above features leaked dialogue between Farley and Eddie Murphy, who voices the character of Donkey.  According to Farley’s brother Kevin, the iconic comedian had recorded nearly all of the dialogue for Shrek prior to his passing in December of 1997.
