Investigation underway after body recovered from east Phoenix canal

PHOENIX – An investigation is underway after a body was recovered from an east Phoenix canal on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Phoenix Fire Department rescue crews initially responded to reports of a person in the Grand Canal near 35th and Roosevelt streets, just south of the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway.

The adult patient could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

No other details were immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
