2 people arrested in connection with animal cruelty case in Surprise

PHOENIX — Two people were arrested on Monday in connection with an animal cruelty case involving an abandoned dog in Surprise, authorities said.

On Saturday, police responded in the area of Peoria Avenue and Perryville Road after a woman called saying she found dog near a walking trail.

The woman took the dog to a safe place and contacted a neighbor, who discovered their security cameras had footage of a red SUV in the roadway behind their house. The footage showed the vehicle’s passenger door being opened and the dog being pushed out. The neighbor then gave the footage to the Surprise Police Department.

Upon investigation, police identified 20-year-old Logan Gambill and 26-year-old Priscilla Galanos as the two people in the vehicle. Gambill and Galanos turned themselves in on Monday.

Galanos was charged with animal cruelty, while Gambill was charged with conspiracy to commit animal cruelty, according to police.

Following the incident, the dog was turned over to Surprise animal control. Authorities said they plan to turn the dog over to the Arizona Humane Society this week.
