Driver suspected of DUI after 2 children injured in Scottsdale collision

PHOENIX – Two children were hospitalized with serious injuries Sunday night after a collision involving a driver who may have been impaired, authorities said.

Officers responded to the crash at Shea Boulevard and Via Linda around 8:10 p.m., according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision, which closed the intersection in all directions for several hours.

How did crash that injured 2 children happen?

A driver allegedly rear-ended one vehicle stopped at a red light on westbound Shea Boulevard and then struck another vehicle that was waiting at the light.

Two children in the vehicle that got rear-ended suffered injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening. They were reported to be in stable condition as of Monday morning.

The driver who allegedly caused the collision, 48-year-old Bradley E. Olson of Sun City West, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and endangerment

He also is suspected of DUI, police said, and could face more charges as the investigation progresses.
