Human remains found near Globe earlier this month have been identified as a missing Mesa teen, authorities announced Thursday.

PHOENIX – Human remains found near Globe earlier this month have been identified as a missing Mesa teen, authorities announced Thursday.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office and San Carlos Apache Police Department have been investigating the case since a body was found near US 60 milepost 277 on Feb. 14.

Two weeks later, authorities confirmed the identity of the victim as 14-year-old Emily Pike, a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe.

When was missing Mesa teen last seen?

The Mesa Police Department issued a missing/runaway juvenile bulletin for Pike on Jan. 29. She’d last been seen two days earlier leaving her home near Mesa Drive and McKellips Road, about 80 miles west of where her body was found.

A homicide investigation is now underway.
