Man sentenced in child sex trafficking case across state lines

PHOENIX — A man was sentenced to prison after being convicted of sex trafficking a minor across state lines in 2021, authorities announced Tuesday.

Tyree Eugene Rideaux, 31, of Henderson, Nevada, was sentenced to 11 years in prison and 15 years of supervised release, the United States Attorney’s Office announced. Rideaux pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor on Sept. 16, 2024.

U.S. District Judge Diane J. Humetewa made the sentencing. Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation.

Authorities said Rideaux met a then-16-year-old girl at a party in Phoenix before Aug. 15, 2021. The girl traveled with Rideaux and two other women to Inglewood, California where she was instructed by Rideaux to pretend she was 18.

Rideaux then placed the minor on the “blade,” an area in Inglewood with high rates of prostitution. The girl was given a fake name and was promoted online in sex advertisements. She convinced a “sex buyer” to take her to a hospital on Aug. 15, 2021 where she was able to notify police and family. Shortly after, the girl returned home safely.

“Predators who traffic in teenagers and force them into prostitution to support the trafficker’s own lifestyle are deserving of the harshest sentences,” United States Attorney Rachel C. Hernandez said. “I’m pleased with the excellent results in this case that came about through the diligent efforts of our law enforcement partners and our prosecutors.”
