New machine at East Valley library lets visitors record titles, deeds and more documents

PHOENIX — East Valley residents will now be able to record titles, deeds and other documents at a Gilbert library.

That’s because the Southeast Regional Library has a new kiosk open to the public. It’s the second recording kiosk that opened this summer. The first opened in Sun City in May.

The machine offers a new and convenient ways to record documents with the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office.

The kiosk has a touch screen, immediate document scanning abilities and a credit card payment processor.

It’s a natural extension of the county’s robust digital recording program. In fact, according the recorder’s office, over 90% of documents in Maricopa County are recorded digitally.

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer said his office is proud to help the community with these new machines.

“These kiosks are designed to boost convenience without sacrificing our exceptional service to help us meet residents where they’re at,” Richer said in a news release from last week. “We’re also incredibly grateful for our partnership with Maricopa County Library District for their help in bringing this service to life.”

What’s significant about the new kiosk at the Gilbert library?

Essentially, the machine allows East Valley residents to save gas and time.

Previously, they’d have to drive to the office’s downtown office near Jefferson Street and Third Avenue. Alternatively, they would also have to send documents through the mail.

However, with this new kiosk, they can connect directly with a county employee.

Through live assistance, the employee will give them the same experience as one they’d get if they went to the Phoenix office.

The new kiosk at the Southeast Regional Library near Guadalupe and Greenfield roads is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.

The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office plans to open another kiosk in Goodyear later this year.
