Sinema, Kelly and other US senators to visit Arizona-Mexico border

PHOENIX — Arizona Sens. Kyrsten Sinema, Mark Kelly and others are set to visit the southern border in Yuma this week, officials announced.

Sinema, an independent, on Tuesday will lead a bipartisan delegation consisting of six other senators and other notable political figures to discuss impacts of the border and the immigration crisis on nearby communities, Sinema’s office announced in a press release.

They’ll also tour the Morelos Dam gap, Cocopah Fence break and the city’s soft-sided processing center.

Following the tour, roundtable discussions will take place at the Regional Center for Border Health at 2:50 p.m.

U.S. Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.) will be in attendance.

Other politicians who will join the roundtable include San Luis Mayor Nieves Reidel, Somerton Mayor Gerardo Anaya and Yuma Mayor Doug Nicholls.
