Mesa Santa Express rolls into light rail station 4 nights in December

As Christmas approaches, the city of Mesa announced the light rail will transform into the Santa Express starting this weekend.

PHOENIX — As Christmas approaches, the city of Mesa announced the light rail will transform into the Santa Express starting this weekend for select nights in the month.

Children and families can board the train near Mesa Dr./Main St. for the holiday experience from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The event will run Friday and Saturday, as well as on Dec. 16 and 17.

Guests are advised to request a commemorative ticket for the free event before getting in line.

More festivities will be held at the Park-and-Ride near the light rail station, including performances, food and snacks from local vendors and gift shop areas.

Visitors can arrive to the event with free light rail rides from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. between Gilbert and Country Club roads on the nights of the event.

The event marks the sixth year of the Mesa Santa Express.
