Pair of 100-year-old military veterans to be taken on honor flights in Mesa

PHOENIX — Two 100-year-old World War II veterans will be taken on honor flights in Mesa on Sunday, organizers said

Navy veteran Ted Giannone and Army veteran Milton Clark will visit the historic World War II Training Facility, otherwise known as Falcon Field in Mesa, at 10 a.m., nonprofit Grounded No More Veteran Flight Lift said in a press release.

The veterans will board the Second World War pilot trainer Amazing Grace at the air terminal.

Patriot Guard Riders will be at the event with a flag line along with several others to honor the veterans, who will share their stories.

The event will also mark the 500th and 501st honor flights, the release said.

Veterans will continue to be honored at Falcon Field in November, with two more Army veterans set to be taken on their honor flights on Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Honor flights provide veterans a free demo flight as a way of thanking them for their service, according to the website.
