Another monsoon storm rolls through Valley, brings rain, wind, some flooding

PHOENIX — A monsoon storm swept across metro Phoenix on Friday afternoon from east to west, dropping over an inch of rain in some places and leaving streets flooded in others.

The southeast Valley, Queen Creek saw over an inch of rain, according to the Flood Control District of Maricopa County.

There were reports of street flooding in Queen Creek, according to NWS.

Sandbags for those living in the Queen Creek area are available at Fire Station 2, near Sossaman and Riggs roads, the city said.

In Mesa, a gauge along the U.S. 60 saw .47 inches of rain and one in south Phoenix recorded just .20 inches.

Near Paradise Valley, a gauge saw just over half an inch, while parts of Troon North saw over an inch.

Lighter rain reached the West Valley, with .04 inches recorded in Surprise .16 inches in Glendale.

The most rain recorded was north of Phoenix, with 1.5 inches seen in Carefree Ranch and 1.54 inches by the Spur Cross Ranch Conservation.

Winds were forecast to reach up to 40-50 mph during the part of the storm that crossed from Gilbert to Chandler after 3:30 p.m.

Gauges near Fountain Hills recorded more than three-quarters of an inch.
