Phoenix-area drug trafficking investigation leads to 14 indictments, 500K fentanyl pills

PHOENIX — Authorities in Arizona said 14 members of a drug-trafficking organization have been indicted on drug and weapons charges, following a yearlong investigation.

The investigation led to the seizure of 517,000 fentanyl pills, 130 pounds of methamphetamine, 3 ounces of cocaine and about 1 ounce of fentanyl powder, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

The indictments were brought against those allegedly responsible for importing and distributing large amounts of fentanyl pills and methamphetamine from Mexico into Arizona, and distributing them locally and nationally, the release said.

Police said more than $135,000 in cash, 13 vehicles and 13 firearms were confiscated during the investigation.

The Phoenix Police Drug Enforcement Bureau and the United States Drug Administration worked on the investigation.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office obtained the 33-count indictment against the suspects.
