Here are the rainfall totals around the Valley from Saturday’s strong monsoon storm

PHOENIX — A strong monsoon storm blew through the Valley on Saturday night, bringing rain to much of metro Phoenix.

Most of the heavier rainfall was documented in north Phoenix, according to Maricopa County Flood Control District rain gauges, as just over two inches was recorded in some parts.

Some areas in north Scottsdale also received more than an inch of rain, along with parts of downtown and south Phoenix.

East and West Valley cities also got some rain, but only a trace in most parts.

Just under 70% of the metro Phoenix area received some rain on Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm also resulted in more than 9,000 power outages being reported in central and south Phoenix, most of which had been resolved by Sunday morning.

It was a stormy day not only in metro Phoenix but across the region, as the National Weather Service said more than 63,000 cloud flashes of lightning were recorded.

After a busy couple days of monsoon storms, the Valley is expected to dry out to start the week with no rain expected through Tuesday.

Rain chances make a return to the forecast beginning Wednesday night and lasting through at least Saturday.

High temperatures in the Valley are forecast to hover between 101 to 104 degrees through Friday.
