Phoenix police investigating homicide after gunshot victim found lying in street

PHOENIX – Police said they are investigating a homicide after a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds on a Phoenix street Sunday night.

Officers responded to a call about a man lying in the roadway in the area of 16th and Roosevelt streets around 10:15 p.m. Sunday, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release Monday.

Alvaro Gonzalez-Garcia, 22, died after being rushed to a hospital, police said.

Witness told police the victim was lying in the street next to his bicycle.

Homicide detectives are working to identify the suspect or suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
