Firefighters battle smoky blaze at central Phoenix commercial building

PHOENIX – Firefighters battled heavy flames and smoke to control a commercial building fire in central Phoenix on Monday night, authorities said.

Crews responding to Seventh Avenue and Camelback Road around 7:45 p.m. encountered a burning single-story structure, the Phoenix Fire Department said in a press release.

Firefighters took defensive positions on all four sides of the building and prevented it from spreading to adjacent properties.

Crews achieved control of the blaze about an hour after they were dispatched.

Nobody was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
