PHOENIX – A lucky local lottery player struck it rich in Saturday’s Powerball drawing with a $1 million ticket.
A $2 entry sold at the Circle K on 27th Avenue south of Dunlap Avenue matched all five numbers but missed the Powerball, which would have boosted the prize to the jackpot of $85 million.
The winning numbers were 8, 23, 37, 52 and 63, and the Powerball was 13.
The odds are 1 in 11,688,054 to win the $1 million prize the national game, which has three drawings a week.
It was the second million-dollar Powerball ticket purchased at a Phoenix Circle K this year.
An entry sold at the 40th Street and Thunderbird Road location matched all five numbers in the Jan. 5 drawing.
In last Monday’s drawing, two tickets purchased in Arizona, one in Mesa and one in the Tucson area, won $50,000 by matching four numbers. The odds are 1 in 913,129 to win a $50,000 Powerball prize.
