Persian New Year Festival returns Saturday to Scottsdale Waterfront

PHOENIX — The fourth annual Persian New Year Festival featuring live music, art and dance returns Saturday to the Scottsdale Waterfront.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 7135 E. Camelback Road.

Guests will be able to venture from a variety of booths that also include food and clothing.

“It’s with great honor to have the city of Scottsdale host the return of Persian New Year Festival,” Lawdan Shojaee, cofounder, said in a press release.

“This year, we have some incredible performers, entertainment and vendors to help us spread awareness about Persian culture and we look forward to celebrating with our family, friends and neighbors.”

On-stage entertainment will come from DJ Vahid Shad and Ballet Afsaneh from San Francisco.

Comedian Tehran and Leila Parnian will be the event’s emcees.

Tickets are free and those who register early will get a free hot tea.

A portion of proceeds from the festival will go to Kids Inspire Difference, a youth-led local nonprofit dedicated to empowering teens to use their privilege to bring attention to larger social justices issues.
