PHOENIX — Tempe police have arrested a 19-year-old man accused in a fatal hit-and-run early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Hector Duarte was arrested just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday for leaving the scene of a collision causing death and tampering with evidence, the Tempe Police Department said in a press release.
The incident occurred just after 4:30 a.m. when 23-year-old Cole Descheny was hit by a Chevy Camaro SS while crossing at McClintock and Hermosa drives, authorities said.
Tempe police said the Camaro, which was traveling northbound at the time of the collision, fled the scene.
Descheny was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Tempe police said upon arresting Duarte it was revealed the Camaro had been relocated and was in the process of being repaired, but authorities were able to recover the veichle.
