Westbound Interstate 10 closed temporarily after fatal crash in West Valley

PHOENIX — The westbound lanes of Interstate 10 were closed temporarily in the West Valley after a fatal crash Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Traffic had to exit the highway at 75th Avenue from around 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

A passenger in a sedan was killed in a two-vehicle collision at 83rd Avenue, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The car “may have rear-ended a commercial vehicle,” DPS spokesman Bart Graves said in an email.
