Part-time Mesa High track coach accused of child sex crimes

A part-time track coach at Mesa High School was arrested by Tempe police on Tuesday for alleged child sex crimes, authorities said.

PHOENIX – A part-time track coach at Mesa High School was arrested by Tempe police on Tuesday for alleged child sex crimes, authorities said.

Angel Jesus Torres, 27, was arrested in Mesa and booked into jail on one count each of child sex trafficking, furnishing harmful items to a minor and aggravated luring of a minor, the Tempe Police Department said in a press release.

Police said there was no evidence any Mesa High students were victims.

Torres allegedly offered cash in exchange for sexual acts while he believed he was communicating with a 14-year-old girl, police said.

Tempe police are asking the public to report any information about Torres behaving inappropriately with children.

The investigation is ongoing. No other details were made available.
