Minimal restrictions planned on Valley freeways this weekend

PHOENIX — Drivers won’t have to worry about many restrictions on Valley freeways this weekend.

In Tempe, work on the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project will close the eastbound U.S. 60 Superstition Freeway between the I-10 interchange and Hardy Drive from 3 a.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday for lane line striping.

Eastbound I-10 on-ramps at southbound State Route 143 and Broadway Road are set to be closed, the Arizona Department of Transportation said in a press release, while eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to four lanes between Broadway Road and U.S. 60.

The eastbound U.S. 60 on-ramp at Priest Drive will remain open.

Also in Tempe, the westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway on-ramp at McClintock Drive will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement maintenance.

In the southeast Valley, the westbound State Route 24 Gateway Freeway on-ramp at Ellsworth Road is set to be closed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for overhead sign work.

People are also advised to be aware of expected heavy traffic in Scottsdale for the WM Phoenix Open, primarily in the mornings and late afternoons at the Loop 101 interchanges between Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.
