Person dies after being struck by light rail train in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A person has died after being struck by a light rail train in Phoenix Wednesday night, authorities said.

The incident occurred when what is believed to be an adult man crossed Central Avenue near Culver Street just before 7 p.m., the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

The individual was pronounced dead on the scene and has yet to be identified.

Light rail trains were experiencing 35-40 minute delays due to the incident, Valley Metro said.

An investigation is ongoing.
