Ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday to officially open Bell Bank Park in Mesa

PHOENIX — Bell Bank Park will officially open in Mesa on Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new 320-acre sports and entertainment complex.

The venue at Ellsworth and Pecos roads near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport over the past month has hosted an open house, as well as some events and competitions, but the celebration at 11 a.m. in Parking Lot 4 near Miller Lite Way will serve as the opening of the entire complex.

Mayor John Giles and representatives from organizations behind the complex will be on-hand to signal the grand opening of the $280 million project that began construction in September 2020, according to a press release.

Light refreshments, tours of the facilities and lunch at the venue’s restaurant and bar will follow at 11:30 a.m.

Arizona-raised Lindsey Stirling will perform Bell Bank Park’s first concert at 8 p.m., in addition to a free cowboy festival the following day from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Jurassic Quest will also be taking place at the venue during the opening weekend, featuring more than 100 life-size animatronic dinosaurs with ticket prices ranging from $19 to $38.

The complex features a 3,000 seat outdoor stadium, a 2,800 seat indoor arena and an eSports arena, along with 57 indoor volleyball courts, 41 pickleball courts, 22 futsal courts, 20 basketball courts, 12 beach volleyball courts and eight baseball/softball fields.

In addition to a 17,000-square-foot restaurant and bar, the venue also has a 2.7-acre great lawn for concerts and events, a 400-foot zip line, a family fitness center, a kids play center, an obstacle course racing park and spaces for gymnastics, dance and cheer.
