MCSO identifies body found in desert as missing Phoenix man

PHOENIX — A body found in the desert last week north of Phoenix was identified as a Valley man who had been reported missing, authorities said.

The body of 41-year-old Benjamin Anderson of Phoenix was found on Friday near Table Mesa Road just west of Interstate 17 and 10 miles south of Black Canyon City, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Anderson was reported missing earlier that day after failing to answer phone calls and messages from friends and family who notified Phoenix police.

His car was found burned in the parking lot of a Phoenix hotel on Saturday, authorities said, with Anderson’s body being discovered 30 miles away from where the car was found.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office at 602-876-TIPS or 602-876-1011.
