Phoenix man wakes up early Friday to house fire, escapes

PHOENIX – A bedroom fire woke a man who managed to get out of his Phoenix home without injury early Friday, first responders said.

Crews from the Phoenix Fire Department arrived at the house near Northern and 27th avenues around 6:20 a.m. to find smoke and flames inside.

They worked quickly enough to keep the blaze from spreading to the rest of the home, a fire department spokesman said in a press release.

The homeowner and his cat will be temporarily displaced.

Cause of the blaze is under investigation.
