Phoenix Police Officer Tyler Moldovan still fighting for life more than 2 weeks after shooting

PHOENIX — Phoenix Police Officer Tyler Moldovan is still fighting for his life and remains in extremely critical condition more than two weeks after being shot up to eight times, the department said Wednesday.

Moldovan has been hospitalized since the Dec. 14 incident, which occurred near 15th Avenue and Camelback Road just after 2 a.m.

“We ask that you continue to keep him, his family, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers,” Phoenix Police said in a Twitter post.

The shooting suspect, 24-year-old Essa Williams, was indicted on six felony counts on Thursday.

Williams was indicted for attempting to commit first-degree murder, attempting to commit aggravated assault, resisting arrest and three counts of misconduct involving weapons.

More charges could be pending and a judge has ordered Williams to be held on a $3 million cash bond.

Williams’ trial is scheduled for April 28.
