Pedestrian hit, seriously injured, while crossing Camelback Road in Glendale

PHOENIX – A pedestrian was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after getting hit by a vehicle Wednesday morning on Camelback Road in Glendale, authorities said.

The person apparently was hit while walking northbound across Camelback at 51st Avenue while east-west traffic had the green light, the Glendale Police Department said in a press release.

Police said there were no signs the driver, who stayed on the scene, was impaired.

Police said the intersection would be closed for several hours during the morning commute.

Motorists were advised to use 43rd Avenue, 59th Avenue, Indian School Road and Bethany Home Road as detours.

No other details were immediately available.
