Gaming company to bring unique league to Phoenix-area movie theaters

PHOENIX — Gaming company SNDBX announced it has partnered with metro Phoenix movie theaters to bring a competitive gaming league to the big screen.

The “first-of-its-kind” league will offer a socially competitive setting in Chandler, Gilbert and Tempe starting on Jan. 11. Each game offers leagues for different age groups to maintain competitive balance as well as social setting.

The in-person league will span eight weeks and an additional two weeks for playoffs. The games that will be played are Rocket League, Street Fighter and Madden NFL 22.

“As a parent, I hear so many other parents express concern over how much time their kids spend playing video games, but the issue isn’t their kids’ interest in gaming, it’s the isolating environment that comes along with it,” Rick Starr, CEO of SNDBX, said in the release.

SNDBX creates a meaningful social experience. It’s a way for you to make friends and a way to reconnect with your friends and family in support of what you all love to do – play games.”

The leagues have already been launched in Florida, Georgia and Texas.
