Services for MCSO lieutenant killed by vehicle to be held Saturday

PHOENIX — A funeral and celebration of life will be held Saturday for fallen Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chad Brackman.

The funeral will be held at Red Mountain LDS Institute at 7126 E. McKellips Road in Mesa beginning at 10 a.m.

The interment will follow at Gilbert Memorial Park Cemetery at 2100 E. Queen Creek Road in Gilbert.

The procession route goes from southbound Arizona Avenue to the eastbound Loop 202 freeway, then to westbound McKellips Road and ending on northbound Red Mountain Way to the entrance of the church.

Following the funeral, the procession will go from the church to eastbound on McKellips Road, back on the Loop 202 freeway going southbound, and southbound on Val Vista Drive before ending by going eastbound on Queen Creek Road to the cemetery.

Road closures for the procession will take place approximately between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and include McKellips Road from Power Road to the Loop 202, and Loop 202 southbound off-ramps from McKellips Road to Val Vista Drive.

Between approximately 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Val Vista Drive from Loop 202 to Queen Creek Road will be closed, as well as Queen Creek Road from Val Vista Drive to Greenfield Road.

Brackman on Nov. 10 was working off-duty at 87th Street and McDowell Road in Scottsdale when he was hit by a vehicle at about 10 a.m.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Brackman, 47, was a 22-year veteran of MCSO and leaves behind a wife, two children and two stepchildren.
