17-year-old in custody accused of fatally shooting teen in Buckeye

PHOENIX — Police said a 17-year-old boy is in custody after being accused of fatally shooting a teen in Buckeye Saturday morning.

A 16-year-old boy was found lying on the ground dead from multiple gunshot wounds outside a business near Yuma and Watson roads, authorities said.

Through surveillance videos and interviews from multiple witnesses investigators, learned the suspect made threats toward the victim who was in a relationship with his ex-girlfriend.

Authorities said the two arrived separately at the location, but when the suspect learned of the victim’s presence, he allegedly shot and killed him.

Investigators found the suspect near 99th Avenue and Thomas Road around 3 p.m.

His name isn’t being released because of his age.
