Valley cities looking for emerging creatives to participate in public art project

Phoenix — Six Valley cities are seeking up-and-coming artists to participate in a public art display project.

IN FLUX Cycle 10 is looking for emerging artists — two or fewer years of experience in public art — to create temporary artworks to show off in Avondale, Chandler, Glendale, Peoria, Scottsdale and Tempe, according to a press release.

Aspiring participants can apply online with a resume, previous works and a statement of intent by Nov. 15 at 5 p.m.

Selected artists will earn between $5,000 and $10,000 for their work, according to the release.

Past IN FLUX cycles have featured murals, steel and wood sculptures, vinyl-on-glass pieces, digital environments and other mediums.

Each city will have a panel of selectors to make recommendations. IN FLUX will then determine final locations for selected artists to confirm placement feasibility, according to the release.

The partnership between IN FLUX and the six cities is to provide creatives a chance to display their talents and connect artists, community organizations, local businesses, city governments and audiences, according to the release.
