PHOENIX — In less than a month, a $1 million Powerball ticket purchased in Scottsdale will expire unless the player who bought the slip claims it, officials said.

The winning ticket was sold at a Circle K near Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard on May 22 and matched five out of five numbers but didn’t match the red Powerball to hit the jackpot, the Arizona Lottery said in a press release. The buyer has until Nov. 18 to cash it in.

Tickets expire 180 days after drawings take place.

The uncashed million-dollar ticket hit on 3, 19, 27, 37 and 40 but missed the Powerball of 8, which would have been good for a $218 million jackpot.

“When a player wins big, other players are inspired to play and that results in more funds for a variety of vital programs and services across Arizona,” Gregg Edgar, Arizona Lottery executive director, said in a press release.

“So we encourage you all to check your tickets and look around your house before it’s too late. Who knows, this big winner might be you.”

Nearly 40% of the $16.5 million unclaimed money in FY2021 was donated to various associations and programs, including Internet Crimes Against Children task force and Court Appointed Special Advocates. The remaining unclaimed funds was used to fund prices for future drawings and games.
