PHOENIX — Metro Phoenix drivers can expect to face closures on portions of Interstate 10 and Interstate 17 this weekend.

Previously announced plans to shut down parts of U.S. 60 in the far East Valley and Loop 101 in the northeast Valley were postponed because of inclement weather in the forecast.

Eastbound I-10 in the West Valley will be closed between 99th and 75th avenues from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The project will also close the southbound Loop 101 ramp to eastbound I-10, as well as the eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Avondale Boulevard.

Below downtown Phoenix, southbound I-17 will be closed between Durango Street and 19th Avenue and Seventh Street from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday for a bridge project.

Both I-10 ramps to southbound I-17 at the Stack interchange near McDowell Road and southbound I-17 on-ramps at McDowell Road and Grant Street will also be closed.

The northbound portion of the highway will then be closed between the I-10 Split interchange near Sky Harbor Airport and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, along with the westbound I-10 off-ramp at 24th Street.

Also near Sky Harbor Airport, the Broadway Curve widening project will result in westbound I-10 being narrowed to two lanes between Ray Road and 24th Street from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway and westbound U.S. 60 HOV lane ramps to westbound I-10 as well as the westbound I-10 on-ramp at 40th Street will also be closed during this time.

The eastbound portion of the highway will then be narrowed to two lanes between 24th Street and Ray Road from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, along with a closure of the eastbound I-10 HOV lane ramp to eastbound U.S. 60.

Westbound I-10 will also be narrowed to three lanes near Baseline Road on Sunday as well.

Drivers should also be aware of a closure of Central Avenue in both directions at I-17 from 5 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday for continued work on the new freeway bridge, with the street being limited to local traffic only in areas between Buckeye and Broadway roads.
