Four Peaks Brewing helping restore fire damage of namesake Arizona wilderness

PHOENIX — Four Peaks Brewing Co. plans to host multiple cleanup efforts this fall to help restore the Arizona wilderness from which the business gets its name after the area was ravaged by a wildfire last year.

The Bush Fire in June of 2020 destroyed more than 193,000 acres in the Tonto National Forest and Four Peaks Wilderness Area in what was the fifth-largest wildfire in Arizona history.

The Tempe-based company announced last week that it worked with the Tonto National Forest Service and the National Forest Foundation to adopt the area.

As part of the adoption, the company will host several volunteer efforts in November to restore the area’s vegetation.

The first event will take place on Nov. 6 in partnership with Copper State, Tread Lightly and T.R.A.I.L. More information can be found online.

“The Four Peaks Mountains were an inspiration for Four Peaks Brewery when it was founded 25 years ago and for this reason, we are committed to helping rebuild the area for future generations to enjoy,” Four Peaks co-founder Jim Scussel said in a press release.

People can also purchase shirts online with 100% of the proceeds going to the replanting efforts.

“This restoration effort is just one of the ways our Thirst For Adventure campaign is dedicated to educating the community on the importance of protecting and respecting our parks,” Scussel said.

In addition to promoting responsible outdoor activities, the year-long campaign also raises money for Western National Parks Association, Grand Canyon Conservancy and the Zion National Park Forever Project, according to the release.
