Peloton plans to open member support center in Tempe, hire 350

PHOENIX – Exercise-at-home juggernaut Peloton announced plans to launch a member support center in Tempe later this year.

The company said it will open the 50,000-square-foot campus near Price Road and University Drive in October.

Peloton told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Wednesday it’s looking to hire 350 employees for the new location.

Mason Paul, a Tempe member support supervisor, said the company is seeking customer service candidates with outgoing personalities.

“No one wants to call in and talk to a robot, no matter how efficient it might be,” he said in a Tuesday press release.

“We’re also looking for experience, whether in a call center, a grocery store, a gas station or even a college. Sometimes it’s even better if you don’t have call center experience because you have more customer service experience and not customer ‘handling’ experience.”

Peloton sells internet-connected exercise bicycles and treadmills and offers subscription access to livestreamed and on-demand workout classes.

The company, which surged in popularity as people shunned gyms during the COVID-19 pandemic, started member support operations out of its New York headquarters in 2014. Four years later, Peloton opened its first dedicated member support center in Plano, Texas.
