Allegiant Airlines at Mesa Gateway adds service to Orange County, more

PHOENIX – Discount carrier Allegiant Airlines will begin nonstop service from metro Phoenix to seven more areas in the country in the fall.

The airline said Tuesday the new destinations in to and out of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport include Orange County, California; Amarillo, Texas; Flint, Michigan; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Springfield, Illinois; Spokane, Washington; Tulsa, Oklahoma; starting mid-November.

The routes are part of a 22-stop expansion “giving customers more affordable, nonstop options to visit Arizona, Florida and Texas during the fall and winter seasons,” Drew Wells, a senior vice president for Allegiant, said in a press release.

Service to Orange County’s John Wayne Airport starts Nov. 19. The area is home to theme parks Disneyland and Knots Berry Farm, Mission San Juan Capistrano and beaches.

Earlier this summer, Gateway Airport brought back low-cost Canadian airline Flair Airlines to the Valley. Flights to Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver will start at the East Valley facility Oct. 31.
