Weekend music series at Glendale park kicks off Thursday, goes through May

PHOENIX — The city of Glendale on Thursday will kick off a monthlong weekend concert series at Murphy Park.

The free concerts will take place at the outdoor amphitheater in the park on 58th and Glendale avenues every Thursday through Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There is plenty of room to socially distance and people are free to wear a mask if they wish, but concertgoers are asked to stick with their group, according to a press release.

Mariachi Pasion starts the music series on Thursday, followed by Barrio Latino on Friday, The Sugar Thieves on Saturday and Supernatural on Sunday.

The concert series features a variety of genres including mariachi, blues, pop/country and 80’s rock, as well as tribute bands to Garth Brooks and the Beatles, just to name a few.

People can also see more than 40 hand-painted guitars, each created by a different downtown merchant, that will be on display at the park.

Food and beverages will not be sold in the park, according to the release.
