Multiple people injured after reports of shots fired at concert in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Multiple people suffered non-life-threatening injuries Saturday night attempting to flee from a concert in Phoenix after reports of gunfire, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the Celebrity Theatre parking lot at 440 N. 32nd St. in Phoenix during a concert featuring rapper Lil Durk and others.

It was reported that shots were fired as a crowd of 7,000 people was exiting the event, with videos on social media showing concertgoers running from the area.

Authorities on Sunday were unable to confirm whether shots were actually fired and officers did not locate any victims from gunshot wounds.

ABC 15 learned from several witnesses at the scene and a manager who works at the theatre that a microphone was dropped by an artist on stage that may have caused individuals to believe they heard shots fired.

The manager also told ABC 15 that the event wasn’t hosted by the venue and was rented by the promoter of the event.

The investigation is ongoing.
