PHOENIX — Asian eatery Wok ‘N Roll, known for delivering a mix of Chinese, sushi and sports with a classic rock theme, has opened a new location in Phoenix, the restaurant announced.

The new location opened in March at 2801 N. Central Ave. and marks the second restaurant for the company, the first in Scottsdale at Miller and Camelback roads.

Wok ‘N Roll’s Phoenix restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Wok ‘N Roll appeals to boomers and the younger crowds who grew up hearing their parents’ brand of rock music played over the years,” Founder and CEO Scott Stuart said in a press release. “It’s a fun, welcoming atmosphere and rewarding for us because we appeal to a wide range of patrons.

“We’re very excited to bring our concept to central Phoenix.”

Wok ‘N Roll offers a casual dining experience with options such as build-your-own noodle or rice bowls, traditional Chinese favorites and sushi, along with starters like potstickers, big eye tuna poke, chicken wings or cucumber salad, according to the release.

People can also enjoy handcrafted cocktails named after some of the most iconic songs in rock history.

A few of the drink options include “2 Tickets 2 Paradise” made up of Absolut Mandarin and Aperol; “Smokin’ in the Boys Room” a rosemary-smoke-infused cocktail featuring Japanese Suntory Toki Whisky with lillet blanc and Domine De Canton Ginger Liqueur; and “Bohemian Rhapsody” that has ginger vodka, blood orange liqueur, lemon juice, lemongrass syrup and club soda.

Sake and a premium boutique collection of beers and wines are also available.

The restaurant is furnished with red and black booths, crystal chandeliers that change color, rock ‘n roll memorabilia and classic rock lyrics emblazoned on the walls, according to the release. At the end of the meal, guests receive their final bills on classic 8-tracks.

Stuart, a longtime media executive-turned-restaurateur, used his past experience to survive the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. He not only kept the Scottsdale location running but also had the ability to open the new Phoenix restaurant.

“Last year, when we were allowed to offer take-out only, I’d DJ on the patio in Scottsdale,” he said in the release. “People gathered in the parking lot. Then I did pig roasts for fans to recall the scents of our kitchen. More people gathered. As a result, when we were able to increase occupancy, we came out of COVID strong.”

Stuart previously opened another restaurant in Phoenix before stepping away to raise his daughter. He opened the Scottsdale Wok ‘N Roll location in 2018, replacing the former J’s Kaiyo Sushi.
