Over 2M people have received at least 1 dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Arizona

PHOENIX — Arizona surpassed the 2 million mark Saturday for people who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, state health officials said.

The Arizona Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 dashboard showed 2,008,916 people have received either their first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine.

The total represents over 27% of the state’s population.

“To everyone who has been vaccinated, I say thank you. To those who haven’t yet gotten your shot, I urge you to roll up your sleeve and help Arizona defeat COVID-19,” Gov. Doug Ducey said in a press release.

“This achievement is a credit to the health care workers, staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly since December.”

Nearly 3.2 million doses have been administered across the state since vaccinations began in December. More than 1.2 million Arizonans have been fully vaccinated as of Saturday morning, according to the dashboard.

“These safe and effective vaccines are the light at the end of the tunnel after more than a year of struggle against COVID-19,” Dr. Cara Christ, state health director, said in the release.
