Woman starts ‘glock block’ for defense purposes

An Oregon woman launched a “glock block” neighborhood watch program after a statue was stolen from her yard and a door at her home jimmied open.

According to ABC News, 65-year-old Coy Tolonen has been passing out signs to neighbors that read “This is a Glock Block. We don’t call 911.”

“These guys need to know if you’re going to pick on a little old lady, then lots of the ladies I know are packing [guns]. They’re sweet ladies but if it’s their life, I’m sorry you’re going to lose yours,” Tolonen said.

About a dozen neighbors have accepted the signs, but some have refused. Tolonen said that’s not a problem.

“We don’t want people to feel bad if they don’t want to post one. We respect their rights too,” Tolonen said. “I just want criminals to think twice. I want my grandkids to be able to play in the yard. It’s time that we step up.”

Police in the area said they aren’t against the idea but are worried about the potential for violence if untrained people are handling weapons.

Tolonen, who is working towards earning her concealed carry permit, said she hopes the group can meet at a firing range from time to time.
