Ghost Ranch Modern Southwest Cuisine reopening after July shutdown

PHOENIX — A Tempe restaurant with some southwest flair is returning to business.

Ghost Ranch Modern Southwest Cuisine, which specializes in steak, tacos and green chile stew, will reopen its doors Jan. 11, a week later than originally announced. The restaurant shut down in July due to the coronavirus.

Located on Warner and Rural roads in Tempe, the restaurant is open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays.

The cuisine will feature a new chef and staff.

The executive chef will be David Mora, a Colombian native who began his culinary career in Miami. He has been a chef at Arizona restaurants in Flagsaff, Sedona and Scottsdale.

“I’ve spent more than a decade exploring the complexity of southwest cuisine and I am thrilled to bring what I’ve learned to Ghost Ranch,” he said in a press release. “I know the restaurant has quickly become a staple in the Tempe community and I hope to continue serving the area authentic dishes with innovative twists.”

The sous chef is Tyler Moonsoo, who has cooked at restaurants and resorts including The Boulders, Ah-So Sushi and Steak and Wrights Kitchen at Waldorf Astoria.

The pastry chef, Lisa Graf, is a Colorado native who ran the pastry programs at La Boca and the Compound and has cooked in Maui.
