Authorities seeking more info in Phoenix homicide, sexual assault case

PHOENIX — Authorities are attempting to locate more potential victims linked to a suspect accused of homicide and sexual assault in metro Phoenix 20 years ago.

Lance David Ray, 53, was arrested in October in Bloomington, Indiana, after DNA evidence tied him to three attacks that occurred in the Valley in 2000, Phoenix police said Tuesday during a press conference.

Ray allegedly shot and killed 18-year-old Dalmar Hussen following a struggle in a vacant lot near 38th Street and McDowell Road on Sept. 24, 2000, police said.

In another incident in Phoenix, Ray is alleged to have kidnapped, bound and sexually assaulted a 17-year-old boy at gunpoint, police said.

Ray also allegedly kidnapped and held a 14-year-old boy at gunpoint in Peoria before sexually assaulting him, police said.

An investigation into the attacks is ongoing and police believe that there could be more victims.

Ray lived in Phoenix from 1999 to 2003 before moving to California in 2003. He lived there until 2017 and then moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he lived prior to his arrest.
