Highway south of metro Phoenix closed for hours after fatal wreck

PHOENIX — Southbound State Route 347 was closed at Interstate 10 for hours Tuesday after a fatal crash south of metro Phoenix, authorities said.
An Arizona Department Public Safety spokesman told KTAR News 92.3 FM that a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck were involved in the wreck near Riggs Road around 9:30 a.m.
Arizona Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed a demolished car wedged under the back end of a truck.
The highway didn’t reopen until after 1 p.m., ADOT said.
Motorists trying to get to southbound SR 347 from the Valley were advised to stay on eastbound I-10 until Riggs, and then head west on Riggs to connect to 347.
