PHOENIX — The president of the union that represents Border Patrol agents doesn’t think president-elect Joe Biden will tear down President Donald Trump’s border wall.

Brandon Judd, who is the president of the National Border Patrol Council, told 92.3 FM KTAR News’ Arizona’s Morning News on Monday that Biden won’t have much choice in the matter, given the progress that’s been made on the wall to-date.

“I don’t think he’ll tear down parts, I just don’t think that that’ll happen,” Judd said. “Unfortunately, because of politics I think he’s going to end construction if he can.

“The major problem that he is going to have as far as that goes is there’s already contracts that have been signed.”

Judd said the $15 billion structure, which the Trump administration said will be 450 miles long at completion, is too far along to stop now.

“There are projects that are still being done and if he ends those contracts, then he’s going to have to pay the money,” Judd said. “And so you’re going to be paying the money for work that’s not being done.”

Judd believes Biden’s decision whether to stop the construction will “come down to politics.”

“Is he going to appease his base? Is he going to appease the far left?” Judd said.

“And is he going to do what they want and pay a lot more money than he would otherwise need to or is he going to do the right thing and continue with construction knowing that walls work?”
