Nevada homicide suspect shot by Arizona DPS trooper near Parker

PHOENIX — A man was transported to the hospital after an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper-involved shooting on Thursday, according to authorities.

Arizona DPS received several reports of suspects in a dark-colored car shooting at vehicles near Parker on State Route 95, with the description of the vehicle matching a homicide case in Henderson, Nevada.

After troopers found the vehicle and started gaining speed, the suspects drove off the road and rolled the car, according to authorities.

A suspect exited the car and pointed a gun at a trooper, according to authorities, causing the two troopers to fire their weapons, striking one of the suspects in the vehicle.

Shawn McDonnell, 30, was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening gunshot injuries, while 28-year-old Christopher McDonnell and 25-year-old Kayleigh Lewis were also transported to the hospital with injuries sustained in the rollover.

Lewis has since been released from the hospital and booked into the La Paz County Jail.

Several handguns were located at the scene, according to the release.

The trooper-involved shooting is being investigated by Arizona DPS.
